Hiran Alwis is an automotive lecturer and former technical trainer with over 15 years of hands‑on and training experience across multiple regions, including the UK, Middle East, Sri Lanka, and Australia. He began his career as a qualified mechanic in London, later moving into diagnostics consultancy, service management, and automotive training roles.
Hiran currently lectures in automotive technology, where he specialises in advanced vehicle systems and diagnostic processes. He is particularly passionate about Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and is focused on helping both everyday drivers and workshop technicians understand and safely use this evolving technology.
He is the author of Don’t Fight Your Car: Learn to Drive With Lane Assist & Smart Cruise, a guide designed to help everyday drivers build confidence with modern driver assistance features. Through the ADAS Project, Hiran is building a hub that bridges the gap between cutting‑edge automotive technology and the real-world needs of drivers and technicians, providing clear, plain-English guidance and practical technical resources.
Hiran holds multiple qualifications in light vehicle maintenance and repair, business management, and vocational education. He regularly collaborates with industry to improve ADAS training, contributes to curriculum development, and supports workshops in understanding diagnostic and calibration requirements for advanced safety systems.
